Chamber of Commerce Meetings
Our next Macon County Chamber of Commerce Membership Meeting will be Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Grecian Steakhouse at 11:30 a.m. We will have two speakers:
Deborah K. Wooley, President, Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry was founded 98 years ago and is the state’s largest, state-wide, broad-based business and industry trade association. It is the state affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Manufacturers and the American Chemical Council. Deborah is our Workforce Employer Outreach Committee (W.E.O.C.) speaker for this month. To find out more information about Deborah and W.E.O.C. please see the attached documents.
State Representative Susan Lynn will speak about the Government Operations Committee and their role and responsibilities in the legislature. She currently chairs that committee.
The Government Operations Committee has several ongoing tasks. The committee is responsible for the periodic review of state agencies and of administrative rules and regulations. Any fundamental changes in the structure of state government must be reviewed by the Gov Op Committee. All legislation which creates, modifies, or terminates boards or commissions must be referred to this committee in addition to the original standing committee of reference.
